WHY WE LOVE CACTUS SILK

Those of you that have seen our beautiful range of cactus silk cushions instore or online and love them!

Read on because you will love them even more after getting a little insight into their production and sustainability.

We source all our cactus silk from the Atlas Mountains near Marrakech. And no we don’t trek the rocky terrain ourselves (because that would be ridiculous for navigational misfits like us!) we have a Moroccan local that can access the remote/isolated villages that are dotted throughout the mountains that are only accessible by foot or donkey.

Anyone that has been to the Atlas Mountains will know that cactus is EVERYWHERE. So by crushing and weaving this plant into a fibre that is strong, soft and durable it is not only great for the removal of this pesky plant but also it’s a sustainable, earth friendly, alternative to most other fibres. 

And as usual it’s a traditional technique that supports artisans and their history and culture which is another reason why we love this product so much. 

Every cushion is different in size, colour, design and with unique symbols and motifs. But every cushion is the same in that it is ethical, sustainable and hand sourced.

Our cushions are filled with a high quality feather insert once it arrives instore to give it a lush plush finish.
